A millwright is a high-precision craftsman or skilled tradesman who installs, dismantles, maintains, repairs, reassembles, and moves machinery in factories, power plants, and construction sites.

Training Guideline

 

1 Trade Test Preparation Course Duration & Times

Full Time Learners: 3 Weeks: Monday – Friday (9:00 – 15:00)

Weekend Learners: 6 Weekends: Saturday (9:00 – 15:00) and Sunday (9:00 – 13:00)

 

 

2 Trade Test Examination (Testing)

 

a) Enrollment at Department of Higher Education and Engineering Skills Academy

 

Application for exam enrollment can be sent to Engineering Skills Academy by submitting the following documents and paying the enrollment fee.


i) Certified copies of ID.

ii) Copy of highest qualification

iii) Copy of School certificate

iv) Letter for previous employers proving that the learner has practical experience in the field.

v) Completed Trade Application form

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR ARTISAN RPL (RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING) (PREVIOUSLY SECTION 28) TRADE TEST

QUALIFYING CRITERIA CATEGORIES:


A. Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience within South Africa and N2 certificate including relevant trade theory. OR

B. Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience within South Africa and Relevant Engineering NC(V) NQF level 3. OR

C. Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience within South Africa and Technical Grade 12 with Maths, Engineering Science and related theory subject. OR

D. Minimum Eighteen (18) months relevant work experience within South Africa, completed of all relevant work experience modules and Relevant Engineering NC(V) NQF level 4. OR

E. Minimum Eighteen (18) months relevant work experience within South Africa and relevant (directly related to the trade theory subjects) N6 certificate or National Technical Diploma (S and N Stream)

F. Minimum four (4) years work experience within South Africa with Grade 9 (Standard 7)

G. Successful completion SETA registered NQF Level 2, 3 and 4 trade related learnerships with minimum two (2) years, inclusive of the institutional and workplace components

It is the responsibility of the learner to supply these documents to Engineering Skills Academy (ESA) . ESA will assist with the checking of the documents. ESA takes no responsibility for the accuracy and validity of these documents.

ESA will submit the documentation for approval, but cannot guarantee approval of the application by QCTO. If the application is approved a convenient (after completion of training) examination date will be scheduled for the learner.

 

3. Re- Examination of Outstanding Modules

The enrollment process remains the same as for new enrollments and the same documents are submitted.

 

4. Course fees.

Course fees are R17, 000 for ARPL , Trade Test Preparation, Trade Test


REGISTRATION FEE OF R10 000 PAYABLE ON BOOKING OF DATE   

Outstanding fee is payable on the starting date of the course or at the latest 5 working days after the start date.

If student cancels in less than 3 days prior to starting date, registration fee is non-refundable. Should a person not arrive for training the full fee is due and there is no refund (space was booked).
